The Eastern Denmark Film Fund provides funding to professional high-quality film, television and new media productions that generate measurable cultural and economic impact in the region.

The Eastern Denmark Film Fund supports

  • Feature films
  • Documentary films
  • TV series and serial formats (e.g. micro-drama /vertical formats)
  • Short films
  • International minority co-productions

Priority is given to projects that:

  • Are creatively and/or production-wise anchored in Eastern Denmark
  • Contribute to new storytelling formats and talent development
  • Engage relevant audiences, including children and young people
  • Have the potential for national and international reach

At least 25% of funding is allocated to projects aimed at children and young audiences.

Der gives prioritet til projekter, der:

  • Målbar økonomisk effekt på medlemskommunerne, samt Østdanmark

Produktions- og udviklingsstøtte

Der kan ydes både produktions- og udviklingsstøtte.

I indeværende år fokuseres der hovedsagligt på produktion, grundet øget pres på produktionsfinansiering.

Udvikling vil blive prioriteret til allerede DFI-støttede projekter og/eller projekter, der potentielt kan gå i produktion inden udgangen af Filmforliget i 2027.

Applications must be completed using the official application form and sent via email to submissions@edff.dk

Before applying, applicants are encouraged to contact the fund for an initial assessment of project eligibility and alignment.

‍The application process consists of four steps:

  • Application submission
  • Administrative screening
  • Artistic and strategic assessment
  • Board decision

Decisions are typically made within four weeks after the application deadline.

Ansøgningen baserer sig på samme bilagsmateriale som der skal til i en ansøgning til Filminstituttet, men skal som minimum indeholde følgende separate dokumenter:

  • EDFF Facts Sheet
  • Manuskript
  • Budget
  • Finansieringsplan med status på de enkelte tilskud
  • Opgørelse over forventet forbrug i medlemskommunerne
  • Castliste
  • Holdliste inkl. markering af crew fra medlemskommunerne
  • Locationliste / liste over forventede locations hvis ikke fastsat pt.
  • Distributionsplan (ellers planer/tanker for distributionen)


Alle bilag skal navngives som anført på listen, eksempelvis ''Finansieringsplan'', ''Holdliste'' osv.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Danish production companies based in or collaborating with a co-producer in Eastern Denmark.

Applicants must demonstrate professional experience, capacity to realise the project and a viable financing and production plan.

For international minority co-productions, the main producer must be international, and Danish creative and/or technical participation is required. Applications must be submitted by the Danish co-producer.

Projects are evaluated based on:

  • Artistic quality and originality
  • Relevance for audiences and cultural value
  • Contribution to the development of the audiovisual sector in Eastern Denmark
  • Degree of regional anchoring (creative and/or production)
  • Feasibility (financial and production-wise)

Additional considerations include:

  • Innovation in format, storytelling, or distribution
  • Collaboration across disciplines
  • Collaboration across partners
  • Talent development
  • Funding is granted for projects with a clear filmic foundation. Purely commercial content (e.g. advertising or corporate productions) is not eligible.

FUNDING TERMS

Funding is granted in accordance with public cultural funding regulations.

Key principles include:

  • Projects must serve a cultural and artistic purpose
  • Funding cannot be used for purely commercial activities
  • Recoupment conditions may apply in case of commercial success

All supported projects must comply with the fund’s terms regarding:

  • Regional anchoring
  • Financial reporting
  • Credit and visibility
